Kitchen Remodeling in Blue Springs, MO
Most kitchens that need work don’t need moving. The ones that do are obvious, and the ones that don’t get treated like they do, which is how a straightforward remodel turns into a structural project nobody needed.
Timberhaus Studio is a Kansas City design-build studio, and the kitchen in the photographs below is one we built in Blue Springs. It started with the home’s original oak cabinetry and a layout that didn’t need changing, so nothing structural moved. Every surface and every fixture did, along with the lighting, and the room reads differently now.

Three Ways We Scope a Kitchen
- Refresh. Same layout, new finishes: cabinet fronts, countertops, backsplash, hardware, lighting. The fastest path to a kitchen that looks and feels new.
- Full Remodel. New cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures throughout, still within your kitchen’s existing footprint. Everything changes except where the walls are.
- Reconfigured. Walls move. This is for kitchens where the layout itself is the problem, not the finishes.

Do you work on kitchens in Blue Springs?
Yes. Blue Springs is one of the closest markets to our shop, and the kitchen in the photographs above is one of ours, taken from the original oak cabinetry through to the finished room.
Can we keep the existing layout and still get a real change?
Often, yes, and the Blue Springs kitchen is the example. Nothing structural moved on that project. The walls, the window, and the working triangle all stayed where they were. What changed was every surface and the lighting, and the room reads as a different kitchen. Moving walls is worth it when the layout is genuinely the problem. It frequently isn’t.
How long will we be without a kitchen?
It depends on scope, and you’ll get a real date during Design rather than a guess on the first call. What we can tell you is that the cabinetry lead time usually decides the schedule more than the construction does, which is why selections get made and ordered before demolition starts.
Do you replace cabinets or reface them?
Usually replace. We do build cabinet doors in our own shop, so a door-only job is something we can take on, but it isn’t the work we’re set up around. Full refacing, where new doors and veneer go over the boxes you already have, is a specialty of its own and there are shops that do nothing else. If your boxes are sound and the layout works, one of those will be quicker and cheaper than we will. We’re worth calling when the cabinetry itself is being rebuilt.
